SW 3.90: 50%more Battery drain

again in this Firmware Release the Battery Drain is very high, more or less 50% more then usual before, use everything with standard settings as delivered, only Spo2 Measurement during night, instead of 7-8% battery drain a day i have now 16-19% a day!

Made hard reset, but didn't help!

  • 3.90 seemed like a rushed update. A lot of new features but very short beta test period before release. Like there was some KPI target or bonus to get it out before Christmas.

  • Since 3.90 it now went from 0.4 to 0.9, that's insane.

After every activity I have to charge it now. Thumbsdown

  • How do I get back to version 3.30? Widget "Hydration" is not worth the loss of battery power per day for 20%

  • I asked the same question if it is possible to revert to 3.30 using the GCD files in the 3.77 beta. But no one has confirmed if it will work or not.

  • INFO: after the update, my 945 had a glitch where syncing got stuck "ON" - I'd leave the sync control, come back an hour later, find it "still syncing". (I'd toggled to WiFi, then back to BTLE sync)

That correlated with a high battery drain.

After a hard-restart (but not factory reset), battery drain seemed normal - or at least nowhere near as high as during the stuck sync.

This makes me think it could be related to the ANT/BTLE update.

  • I also more than doubled the drain. From around 0.2 to 0.5%/hr with a factory reset watch, 3.30 was very good regarding battery drain.

Gone from almost 20 days on a charge which is very good to around 10 days with no activities.

Have now downgraded the bluetooth firmware to 3.60 now, lets see if that will do something with the drain. Saw something in the fenix 6 forum that not have connected the watch to phone reduced drain from 12% to 4% day. Suspect it has something to do with the new Bluetooth firmware.

Will see tomorrow if the drain goes down with 3.60.

  • Yeah, I now have my BT disconnected (which I usually have btw, I just turn it on when actively needed/syncing) and this seemed to have helped.

But just recharged it yesterday and the first few hours after recharging it discharges very slowly anyway so will have to keep an eye on it

I just finished gym workout. No GPS but ANT+ heartbeat sensor and bluetooth headphones for music over the watch. During workout I left my phone in the locker, out of reach for bluetooth connection.

Startet with 19% battery left. After 33 minutes I got an alarm for just 10% left. I disconnected the headphones. After another 30 minutes I finished workout. Still 10% left. After arriving in the locker room the battery showed 11% left. After shower 12%! It charged after workout? Also the heartbeat sensor of the fr945 stuck at about 110bpm while sitting quiet in the car. Restart helped for that.

Pls Garmin fix this mess :-(

  • i got a Sensor Hub Update 3.20 now over Garmin Express, hope this is for the Battery Drain!
