[Fixed] Skiing is broken; Frequent crashes and restarts after 1 run.

Third time skiing with my watch, this time with the latest update hoping it would fix this problem but no such luck.

Whenever I try to ski with the watch, it seems to record one run and sometime after that it crashes and reboots into a “paused” activity state. No matter where or how often I try to resume the activity, it is not able to record any more runs without crashing.

Yesterday I was able to finish my second run and it crashed immediately after I got to the bottom, and rebooted into a state where it had lost the data from that run and paused as if I had just finished the first.

I ski in Colorado so elevation is typically above 9000ft

Technical details:

software version 3.30 (but this was an issue in 2.80 as well)
default data screens for “skiing”
3D speed is ON
3D distance is ON
GPS +
GLONASS
Power save timeout is normal

Yep, it's not technically the same, but it's hard to say does that help or not, without knowing the root cause for both problems and what was the fix. But it might fix, so worth trying.

We are actively investigating issues with freezing and crashing while Skiing on the 945. I will follow up here if additional info is necessary on our end/when I have more information to share.

The 3.77 beta seems to have fixed the skiing (snowboarding) issue on my 945.

While my old 935 worked as expected (my son still uses it) in ski mode, the 945 would regularly reboot and I'd find it in "stopped" mode on the activity. Thus, I'd only get one run unless I hit the start button again.

This week, I loaded the 3.77 beta and spent the last two days riding and it's worked as expected since. Yesterday, it recorded runs and lift rides for a couple hours. Today, two sessions of 3 hours each and everything looks exactly as it should.

I had same issue and upgrading to 3.77 seemed to fix it. Friday got basically no tracking data, pushed update that night, saturday it worked perfect.

Hi, its already 2 months and 3 software updates in the meantime and no solution so far....

Garmin - what are you guys going to do about this?

The updates didn't solve the problem for you? Odd. A 3.77 this issue was solved on my 945.

Yes, I've been skiing without any problem. Now it's working fine for me.

Indeed. This can be marked as solved. It has been working perfectly for the last couple updates.
