workouts not syncing to watch any longer

When I modify a workout on the phone app (Android) or on the web site using Chrome, and then sync to the watch, the workout isn't updating. This applies to both the workout (e.g., change the number of repeats and/or pace) and the workout name. 

This has worked for most of the summer, so this is a new thing .. has anyone experienced anything similar? I've been running with this watch since late May without this happening, everything is up-to-date in terms of software.

  • When I created new workouts, the new workout syced fine (I had tried that before as part of my troubleshooting, should have mentioned this).

    I found a work-around. I just duplicated the workout and deleted the original. As I was down to only two workouts at the moment (vs 6 during the summer) it wasn't too much of a hassle. The duplicated workouts can be edited/updated/synced properly as before.

    It's as if some sort of 'read-only' flag was set on the two original workouts that prevented them from being modified/overwritten.  Very odd. 

     I'm glad I can at least change them now .. hopefully this will not repeat.  Thanks for your help/suggestions.

    I've been having this issue over the last couple months as well. It occurs when changing workout names, or other data. It just didn't synch. Restarts, manual synchs, etc. don't send the workout to the watch. For one of mine, I recreated the entire workout and sent it again and it went through but jeez, that's not really sustainable. I put in dozens of workouts for different disciplines.

    Hi Levon,  I don't know if you can help.

    I have the vivoactive 4s and nowadays I cannot seem to upload new workouts to my watch.

    I jcreated my own workouts on Garmin Connnet, pressed the mobile Icon and synced but never comes up on the phone. 

    Tried also on Garmin Express (from ios) and I got a confirmation that it's uploaded, but never comes on the watch.

    I have up to date apps and bluetooth works fine. 

    Any help?

  • The Tip from Levon helped me (as i am having problems at the moment myself) copying the workouts and deleting the first one.

  • I agree.  Thanks :) It's a bit of a pain doing it manually, perhaps some clever individual can find a way of doing it automatically? 

    I basically (on the phone app) duplicated every single one, deleted them manually from the watch, then renamed each on the phone (so they don't say "copy of...." and synced them back again).

    Couple of weeks before I was able to send the workouts to my watch(vivoactive 4s) and now I'm creating them(in app and on garmin connect) and don't see them in my watch(I tried to sync the watch by cable, wifi).

    Any ideas?

  • I had this same problem: did a duplicate of the new modified version of workout, deleted the workout I duplicated, and the duplicate loaded onto watch fine.
