945 - Broadcasting Heartrate via ANT+ fails

Tried to broadcast my heartrate with my Forerunner 945 (Firmware 3.08b) to another software via ANT+ (Zwift on Macbook, and Rouvy on iPad, both Systems with ANT+ Dongles).

Both Programs find the heartrate signal from the watch and connect, but no values are transmitted, always "0".

Any help or suggestions?

I tried this also today with no succes. Would be intresting to find a solution. I'd like to use the wristbased heartrate for indoortraining cause my heartrate belt values are going nuts, when the belt gets soaking weat and is full of sweat...

A watch restart solved the problem for me. Give it a try.

I'd be interested to hear how you get on with this - my 945 is terrible for HR when on Zwift...see the link below for more details. I've given up and use a strap now.

Any activity involving "grip" - a bicycle handle, rower, hiking poles - will completely bork optical HR on the wrist: the tendons and muscles in your wrist disrupt bloodflow enough to make the readings unusable.

Get a chest strap HRM. (I'd suggest the Polar H10 as it's triple-protocol: dual-channel BTLE, ANT+, and Polar 5kHz. The pod and strap are better too and even allow offline recording. Garmin's falling behind on HRMs.

Thanks, yes I've pretty much given up on the 945 for Zwift (I use a chest strap now).

Interestingly it seemed to cope much better before the 2.7(?) software update and when I had a 935 it never seemed to have so much of a problem. I've got a ticket open with support on this but I'm not holding my breath...

It's now clear that this isn't just a "wrist heart rate isn't accurate" issue. More and more people are reporting the problem, eg:

Hopefully Garmin can pull their finger out and sort it; at the moment this fundamentally undermines the 945's fitness tracking and analysis features, whether people realise it or not - the HR measurement is so far out when the watch isn't actively recording an activity as to be useless.
