Any scratches on the glass?

Hi,

I'd like to know how well is the Gorilla DX glass holding up. I had Fenix 3 sapphire for 4.5 years and it is great ... but apparently Gorilla glass has less reflections and it is cheaper ... but how about scratches?

Could you share your experience? Thanks!

  • I had a 645m and, no matter how carefully you treat it, if you don´t put a screen protector on, scratches will appear.

Yes, after two weeks I had one scratch. Now I put on a shield glass on watches. I would say this glass is likely to be scratched in short period.

  • I didn't want to risk it and bought some very cheap screen protectors (£7 for 3 - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B073QL7RNT) and they fit really well. I have now got a small crack in the first one but not got around to fitting the second - so it has done some level of function at least Slight smile

  • My FR945 has several minor but noticeable scratches.  I had several Fenix 3 and 5 watches with sapphire and I never saw a scratch on them.

  • I was an early adopter and bought the 945 as soon as it went on sale and have been wearing it 24/7 since it arrived with no protector and don't have any scratches.

Over the last 6-7 years I've had many Garmin watches from the low end FR10 to the Fenix 5+ Sapphire and the only scratch I've ever had was on the base model F5S+ which had the mineral glass lens. I don't know where or when that happened and it was so small I didn't even know it was there until I was cleaning it up when to put it eBay.

  • I've worn mine 24/7 since launch day. Sleep, work, run and swim. Totally unmarked

Same here.  Bought on launch day, where it 24/7 (I work outdoors too) and no scratches

  • Have mine since June 8th. I wear it all day. Still looks like new.

  • Strange, but no scratches yet since few months (bought it just after product launch). Anyway I tried several protection glasses and foils but all gave negative impact on screen visibility (mostly much more reflections).

  • I've had my FR945 for a couple months now. I wear it 14-16 hours a day, and sometimes overnight if I want to track my sleep. No scratches at all so far. It replaced a Fenix 3HR with sapphire crystal that I had for three years; the Fenix didn't have any scratches on the crystal, but within a few weeks of getting it I got a scratch on the bezel thanks to a very heavy door.
