Any scratches on the glass?

Hi,

I'd like to know how well is the Gorilla DX glass holding up. I had Fenix 3 sapphire for 4.5 years and it is great ... but apparently Gorilla glass has less reflections and it is cheaper ... but how about scratches?

Could you share your experience? Thanks!

I managed to scrape my 945 against a brick wall and am now the proud owner of a couple of light scratches. Not too bad but I know they're there!

  • It highly depends on the type of activities that you do.

For me, my FR945 looks like new. It's been on my wrist almost 24/7 for the last 11 months. However, I'm rather careful with my watch. Also when trail running is various, more rigid environments, I'm pretty much aware to keep the watch out of harms way. Having said that, my main activities are running and cycling.

Activities that require more working with the hands (rock climbing, canyoning or alike), there is a higher change of getting scratches. Hence the question: What are your main type of activities?

  • Have mine since early December. I wear it all day. Still looks like new.

  • The first 945 I bumped against the house brickwork and put a scratch on the glass. Got it swapped 6 months ago when the buttons started giving trouble. Now I'm more carful with this one now that I now you can scratch it and so far scratch free.

  • My screen was lightly scratched after banging it on a door knob at home. I tried rubbing it off thinking it was just material from the knob but sure enough it was an actual scratch. I am now using a glass protector to hide the scratch and prevent further damage in the future.

  • I also have two scratches - it scratches really easily!

But I don't like the glare of a screen protector, so I live with the scratches...

Unless anybody can recommend a protector that doesn't impact readability too much?

  • Always have a screen protector... had mine off for 3 days and got a massive gash Disappointed

  • I keep a screen protector on mine but I have inadvertently bumped the watch on hard services too many times to count (car door frame, wall, etc) and there isn't a scratch on the protector.  I figure that isn't as tough as gorilla glass so shouldn't be any scratches even if I didn't use the protector.

  • Scratches really easily. Just had a quote from Garmin to replace for £130 and it’ll take 6 weeks.
