Two Sapphire Fenix 6 Pro’s, backlight / contrast issues

I bought two fenix 6’s today, both are the Carbon grey DLC coated with sapphire glass.

Have a look at these photos, my wife's is on the left hand side and mine the right. Her looks very yellow compared to mine which looks far crisper and sharper. Both have backlight set to 50%.

Any thoughts on if there’s a setting other than backlight that could cause this before I go back to the shop where I bought them?

  • Today I received 2 Fenix 6 pro and 1 Fenix 6 pro Sapphire just to compare. Both 6 pro had the exact same blue backlight.

The sapphire has a different backlight. When this one turns on it only illuminates the lighter parts of the watchface and keeps the black just black.

When the backlight is off is the sapphire glass just a little bit darker and has little bit more reflection. But it is hardly noticiable.

I immediatly went for the Sapphire version and returned the two 6 pro's.

The sapphire has also got the DLC coating on the bezzle so that should give less scratches. I also orderd a screenprotector but im not going to use it. It makes the sapphire glass less clear.

The picture has been taken in my bathroom with both watches set to 20% backlight. With both exact the same watchface on it.

Happy i did it this way and that i could compare both type of watches.

    Hi,

Where did you buy the watch and on what basis did the shop exchange it?I bought my Garmin Fenix 6s sapphire yesterday in Apart (also in Poland) and they didn’t agree to order a watch to exchange it. I looked in 3 other Apart shops and the display was the same (blue and bad contrast), so I Can’t exchange it for a piece that has a proper display. In the photo you can see the difference beetween my display and my boyfirends display in Fenix 6x sapphire:/

There haven't been any reports of a good 6s unfortunately.

Same story here...I’m so disappointed in Garmin. I bought the Fenix 6s sapphire watch and my display is ridiculously bad in comparison to Fenix 6x sapphire... I called Garmin in Poland and they say that I can’t get a new one or replace it, because both displays are considered fine (the same quality) by Garmin. For me it is such a lie, the screen is way less readable when you look at it form the side. A watch with proper display will be far more sharp than the “version” I got. The color black is actually blue and contrast is just way worse than the other watch. I have no words... you buy the same watch and get way worse display and can’t do anything about it. Not cool, I would be really careful with buying these watches!! (Personally I won’t do it anymore, because the lack of help and responsibility in exchanging the piece for a proper one, pretending that there is not a problem is not a brand I accept and not the consumer service I consider enough). Any help what can I do to get a watch with proper display? Someone successfully got help from Garmin with that issue? Are there 6s sapphire pieces that have a good display??

  • 6S never had the black display. Only blueish. ;)

Maybe 6S Pro Solar will be better in this area, however there haven’t been any reviews of this model so far to take a look.

This pinkish backlight quality of screen is completely not acceptable definitely very bad quality screen

  • Pure assumption:
because their screen is the same resolution as old 5X screen.
So old stock, old contracts with some factory somewhere, has been used.

There is an obvious issue which has been solved like pushing some dust under a carpet.
    10 months.... and counting.

(Mine is perfect but I have witnessed too many blue haze.)
