Two Sapphire Fenix 6 Pro’s, backlight / contrast issues

I bought two fenix 6’s today, both are the Carbon grey DLC coated with sapphire glass.

Have a look at these photos, my wife's is on the left hand side and mine the right. Her looks very yellow compared to mine which looks far crisper and sharper. Both have backlight set to 50%.

Any thoughts on if there’s a setting other than backlight that could cause this before I go back to the shop where I bought them?

I'm new to this support forum so haven't read all the comments other than the few detailing the issue with my 6s Sapphire. Having said that, the color variations is totally not acceptable in these watches! Garmin certainly isn't marketing them with this terrible purplish color. I've ordered a 5s Plus Sapphire directly from Garmin and if it's got this color issue, it'll be going back. Ridiculous QC from a product costing this much.

I simply asked for an opinion of what people thought about mine (blue tint issue, or not). For some reason he's asking me if I'm happy. (lol)

To answer his question, sure I'm happy. It doesn't mean I can't be happier, right? I would of been unhappy knowing that I purchased a defective watch post the return date.

  • I understand that.  He asked if you're happy because the the decision is yours and yours only.  Not what strangers on the internet think.  Are you happy with the display?  If not exchange it.  If you are, disregard this thread.  Was his advise poor?   If you read this thread in it's entirety, it's been said over and over and over that if you're not happy with the display to exchange it.  If you you're happy with your display please don't comment and leave this thread.  That's exactly what he said to you.  Seriously here.  What's the problem?  He said exactly what some have been repeating since day 1.  Now he's the bad guy for reinforcing their request.  This doesn't come across as hypocritical to you?

Well he has one hell of a way to greet a new Garmin user with questions.

"Are you happy? If so leave this thread and continue being happy."... That's just toxic.

With the guideline - Unhappy, return it. Happy, get out. I guess we shouldn't discuss or ask for the the opinion of others? What's the purpose of this discussion forum? Are you an admin for Garmin? If so, why not just lock this thread to keep new customers from posting? It would save you a load of time from responding to others seeking answers.

I'm not trying to be an ass about it, but seriously, unless you're an admin for Garmin, why stick around going back-and-forth? Let the people ask/discuss/vent the issue all they want. What is it to you that they keep discussing/venting/asking about it? Is it pushing one of your favorite discussing threads lower?

Anyway, thanks for the warm welcome. Time to move on to returning the watch and further venting this story to a news editor. Maybe they'll save you some time by just broadcasting to many new users that they shouldn't discuss it and should just return/exchange it if they're unhappy.

  • I guess we shouldn't discuss or ask for the the opinion of others? What's the purpose of this discussion forum? Are you an admin for Garmin

No, I'm not a Garmin admin, (???)   You can ask any question you wish, but there are questions you shouldn't be asking if you're capable of making your own decisions.  "Do you think my screen is blueish and should I exchange it?"  isn't one of them.  Make up your own mind.  Anyway, my response has nothing to do with your inquiry.  In fact your question is irrelevant to my response.  If you were to go back to the first post in this thread and read them up to yours, several people have repeatedly said that people who find the display unsatisfactory should exchange their watch and anyone who is satisfied with their watch should leave this thread and keep their comments to themselves.  Phil has just reiterated exactly what these people have said in the past, but he's now a target of ridicule from these very same people.  You merely posted and the hypocrisy was brought to light.  It could have been anyone and has nothing to do with you personally.

  • ok..so you are the new certification aurhority to decide which questions should or shouldn't be asked.. applying your own logic,i  would probably say, if you like Richardreborns question then feel free to answer it if not leave the question or ignore.

sometimes making up our own mind needs opinion of others.. what are reviews and discussion forums for?

  • ok..so you are the new certification aurhority to decide which questions should or shouldn't be asked.

We'll try this again.  I used bold and italic letters last time for emphasis, but somehow you missed that.

    1.  "You can ask any question you wish."  Is there any reason to elaborate on this statement any further?

    2.  "there are questions you shouldn't be asking..."  Key word is shouldn't.  No where was it implied they couldn't.  An example:  "I'm really not sure I like the black watchband.  Do you think blue would be better?"  This is the type of question that one person, and one person only, can answer.

applying your own logic,i  would probably say, if you like Richardreborns question then feel free to answer it if not leave the question or ignore.

    1.  This isn't my logic.  What I wrote was there have been several people posting this request that others leave this thread if they don't have any issues.  Never did I request or recommend doing so.

  • lol so they should make their own decisions.. rather than asking people to help them make decisions and when they make their own decision to ask people about their opinion you try to shouldn't and couldn't on them for making decision to post that question for others to answer

.. are you by any chance seeing the irony in your logic :)..

  • lol so they should make their own decisions.. rather than asking people to help them make decisions and when they make their own decision to ask people about their opinion you try to shouldn't and couldn't on them for making decision to post that question for others to answer

How could anyone find irony with what you wrote?  It makes no sense. Maybe edit your post using proper grammar so it's understandable and then I can answer your question. I'm not trying to be rude, but I don't understand what you're saying.
