Two Sapphire Fenix 6 Pro’s, backlight / contrast issues

I bought two fenix 6’s today, both are the Carbon grey DLC coated with sapphire glass.

Have a look at these photos, my wife's is on the left hand side and mine the right. Her looks very yellow compared to mine which looks far crisper and sharper. Both have backlight set to 50%.

Any thoughts on if there’s a setting other than backlight that could cause this before I go back to the shop where I bought them?

The image on the right is definitely not what Garmin uses to market these watches!

And I'll add... I would have never kept your 5X with the off color.

The one on the right is the 5x.  Definitely going to be returning that one.

    Watch: Fenix 6 Sapphire

    SN: 63407XXXX

Hi - New Garmin customer/user here. I recently received my F6Sapphire (this past week). I love the watch so far, but in all honesty, I thought it was a bit strange that the colors seemed a bit "washed", or rather not as vivid (especially the white), even at 100% brightness. I started doing some research last night to see if this was normal and I happen to run into this thread by doing a Google search.

Can someone on this thread give me their opinion on mine?

I took a couple of photos at 20%. My personal opinion is that there are a couple of angles that are bluish, and then there are some that aren't. I'm so confused...

Looks kind of similar to mine at 20%.  Like there's a bluish tinge on the white but c ontrast is pretty good?

Yep. The blacks look okay, a bit of a minor wash, but not enough to bother. I think the bluish tinge to the white is what is really starting to bother me. I

For what it's worth, all the F6 Sapphires I've seen have the bluish tint to the whites. From what I've read and seen, I think this is normal. Hard to compare to everyone's pics because it might be attributed to the sapphire glass whereas some pics are non-sapphire models. Also, different phones' cameras may adjust white balance in photos so that makes it hard to tell too. I've personally looked at 11 (yes 11) different F6 Sapphires in person from various retailers and all had perfect blacks and all had the slight bluish tint to their whites. I guess there's a possibility that there are Sapphires with perfect whites and I just have that unlucky of a draw? I can say there is slight variability in the amount of bluish tint but wouldn't ever notice it if I didn't have a 2nd F6 in hand to compare to. Model #s ranged from 63N01 thru 63N10 ( 63N04s, 05s, 06s, 08s included in there). So I can also confirm that newer model #s dont really mean you're going to get a watch without defect. The one I'm sticking with is 63N01 with good contrast, least tinted whites, firm clicky buttons, no OHR or GPS issues, etc. The latest model # I had in hand 63N10 had double click buttons and a 63N08 had a burned in couple pixels that left a white spot on the screen. I also personally think the amount or type of background room lighting makes a difference in how the whites appear.

Anyways, I know this thread is about the bluish blacks, which I believe is a real issue (and happy I lucked out there) so just sharing my experience for info. Happy with my F6. Pulled out my FR645M and Vivoactive3M today to remind myself how blue/purple/washed out the blacks are on those and reinforced my investment in this watch. Happy training!

IMO, the blacks look normal on yours. Not that purplish low contrast color seen in mine.

This is clearly the best piece of advise posted on this thread and yet there are several who gave it a down vote. (-6 at the time of this post)  It's been argued to death that if you find your watch unsuitable to exchange it and if you're happy to please not bother commenting and go elsewhere.  This is exactly what Phil said and yet people are voting his post down.  There was no gray in his post. It was black and white. This makes absolutely no sense.  So, now you don't want people to contact Garmin or their retailer if the display doesn't meet their standard and you want people that are content with their watch to continue posting and arguing with you?  People, if you want to be taken seriously, pick a side of the fence you want to be on and stay there.  These 180 degree turns, which appear to be nothing but spite based on who posted is ridiculous!
