Two Sapphire Fenix 6 Pro’s, backlight / contrast issues

I bought two fenix 6’s today, both are the Carbon grey DLC coated with sapphire glass.

Have a look at these photos, my wife's is on the left hand side and mine the right. Her looks very yellow compared to mine which looks far crisper and sharper. Both have backlight set to 50%.

Any thoughts on if there’s a setting other than backlight that could cause this before I go back to the shop where I bought them?

Beautiful.  Looks like Garmin has finally got a hold of their “variations due to parts”.

  • OK, just got my 6X Sapphire, serial 63407*. Looks black as night to me, I compared it to my (current) 5+ and the 5+ backlight is more blue tinted than the 6X Sapphire. So at least on this count, seems fine assuming I don't find some other issue.

Just a heads up. There are a few people that have devices that do not have any blue tint at all. If you post any pictures and there is even a slight hint of blue, they will start posting that your device is defective, then they will start posting the same pictures of theirs.

they are not doing this to be helpful at all. They are doing it so they can keep showing off their screens again and again, and try to make everyone think that all their devices are defects even though garmin says that there are variances in the backlight, and they are not defective.

my backlight has a very slight blue tint and these few people have told me that my device is defective.

  • Hello I refund my 2 devices with bad quality screens to find finally a good quality one this absolutely is joke hard to understand this and now I have issue with dlc paint come off. This quality of this device it's not worth the price I really regret this purchase so much For sure this DLC on this watch is Rubbish fake DLC I am military special force operator I see plenty of DLC coated Military equipment and they never scratch so easy for sure don’t trust this is proper DLC.

  • Here my Returning and quality-deviations Story:

1.) 6 Sapphire: 3 Buttons extremely wobbly --> Gets back.

2.) 6X Sapphire: Superblack screen, no blue, but in sunlight and indoors the superblack screen is significantly darker than this one in 6X sapphire with blueish screen..

--> My decision then: Buy the cheapest 6 Pro Standard and don't worry about quality issues due to the lower price.

3.) get the Fenix 6 Pro for 520€ in Germany: Best contrast in sunlight, but very blue at backlight, and all buttons with double click. --> Due to the good readability in sunlight and forest it's the best compromise for me. --> Will use this watch until 6 Plus or 7 shows improvements :) Perhaps i will disassemble the watch and improve the buttons with glueing a shim between them and the PCBA ;)

  • Well, I returned another.  The blue was just too much, let alone I also noticed the DLC had a small chip already!   Diamond like.  Ok, sure.  Meanwhile my AW continues to work flawlessly.

This is what happens when a company the size of Garmin mass produces without strict quality control.

Pretty sad that this is simply about market share VS quality.

  • My DLC bezel also has a chip now and I baby my watch!
