Two Sapphire Fenix 6 Pro’s, backlight / contrast issues

I bought two fenix 6’s today, both are the Carbon grey DLC coated with sapphire glass.

Have a look at these photos, my wife's is on the left hand side and mine the right. Her looks very yellow compared to mine which looks far crisper and sharper. Both have backlight set to 50%.

Any thoughts on if there’s a setting other than backlight that could cause this before I go back to the shop where I bought them?

What’s hilarious is that you have the usual suspects in here saying this variation is completely normal.  Just because the manufacturer said so.

If you spent 800$ on a faulty product thinking that all are like that and suddenly you realise that there are much better out there for the same price (and its too late to return yours) you'd do everything to convince yourself and others that it is not you who is actually mistaken. How else will you rationalise to yourself spending so much money on a faulty product. These are the ones that defend the product so much.

There are actually people who really don't care what tint their watch has (even if its blue or purple) but they are not the ones in this thread.

  • It just strikes me as very odd that there are 3 or 4 people who personally attack those who do nothing but post about the display of their watches not being up to standard.  Also, posting pictures showing the variations.  These are all loyal Garmin customers just trying to sort out this display issue and get the best looking device for the very large sum of money they are dishing out, that includes myself.

FYI, At least to me.   My iPhone X pictures tend to make the display look more blue than what I see with my eyes. I purchased the leather band on that has a serial 63406 and the camera images are kind of blue, but looking at it with my eyes, it looks pretty good.  This one seems to be a keeper.   Interesting that when registered, this shows an image of the leather band/black DLC.  The serial number knows which watch it is.  Cool.

Why is it wrong for people to try to help people?  We are all still buying Garmin, we just want what we know is out there.  Good units with really nice displays.

To those of you reading this forum trying to decide if yours is acceptable, good for you.  Stay informed and do not let ANYONE bully you because you have a concern.  There are many other places on the net including Reddit and Youtube if you search Fenix 6x Pro blue display.  There are also many examples of ones very nice displays.

It's YOUR money, only accept what is acceptable to YOU, not anyone else on this forum.

Didn't you say about a month or 2 ago you were done with Garmin and going back to your Apple watch. You couldn't load the latest F.W because it would screw up your watch? Now you are talking about loyal Garmin customers? I guess NOW your watch must be working.

  • Yeah, people seem to change their decision here all the time.

First some did not want to belive there is a black display version of F6, then when we saw them on videos and photos, they said that photos were edited and photoshopped, then that F6 is great watch anyway and it does not matter if display is blue or pink (suppose it does not matter as it is "only" $800-1000 watch), then phone cameras were to blame, even when there were two F6 good and bad next to each other on one photo, then that people post photos of good displays with minimum backlight, then it was admitted there are two versions but both displays are ok, and who cares, then that black display got worse resolution and worse (?) pixels. And all this by people who did not have or see good black version in real life. And it was all said by same people all the time. Interesting :)

I got an brand new one after 2 weeks being without one :). I had spots all over my Sapphire.

This 6X Sapphire starts with serial 63408 and it is for now spotless.

Two weeks ago the ios app was all a mess so beside the app the firmware is 3.10 and should I stick with this one?

  • Beautiful, that's a proper display, the blacks are not getting washed out.   That's a keeper.   I would stick with 3.10 for now, until the latest Beta gets put into a final release.  The latest BETA is decent.  Still OHR issues and some other things, but over all pretty solid.

Glad you took the time to get a good display.  That's a lot of money to hand over to Garmin.
