Two Sapphire Fenix 6 Pro’s, backlight / contrast issues

I bought two fenix 6’s today, both are the Carbon grey DLC coated with sapphire glass.

Have a look at these photos, my wife's is on the left hand side and mine the right. Her looks very yellow compared to mine which looks far crisper and sharper. Both have backlight set to 50%.

Any thoughts on if there’s a setting other than backlight that could cause this before I go back to the shop where I bought them?

  • Checking with past feedback every 6S normal,  Pro and Sapphire have bluish screen.
I have had a fenix 6 Pro Sapphire since launch and perfectly black

Sometimes, it is better to read messages before click on -1 and answer. I was speaking about 6S!

I have a perfect Fenix 6 Pro Titanium so I know that some 6 Pro are ok

Looked at two 6x Pro (non sapphire) at REI and they both had blues screens. Then looked at this 6x sapphire and it had the black screen. I made them open each one and turn them on so I could see the screens.

Got the sapphire one. S/N 63436xxxx

I did see a 6x sapphire at BestBuy that had the blue screen when they first hit the stores.

Also lets not forget we are talking about 3 different screen sizes between the 6s, 6, and 6x. I have only looked at 6x's so can not speak for the other sizes.

  • The One in the picture is the Sapphire?

  • well, I just got a replacement for my fenix 6s pro from amazon, my original had blue screen, ordered black friday.

The replacement arrived today, screen black as night.

So there is a discrepancy even among fenix 6s pro, I already boxed the old one and returned it, otherwise I would have taken a picture, but both next to each other looked just like the first picture in this thread.

Credit to amazon for just shipping out another for me to compare the two.

  • Just as Seinfeld was "a show about nothing" and went on and on... so goes this thread Rolling eyes

  • If somebody is interested to know which model have the two different kind of displays and which one not why you think you have the right to say that we are speaking about nothing.

  • Thanks for your feedback! Is it a normal S6 Pro or Sapphire? Had both the same color? Which color?

Could you share with us (or me in private) serial numbers?

Good point, but I think your premise is flawed.

The point I was trying to make, with some perhaps not so funny comedy, is that after a year we are no closer to "knowing" exactly what you want to know - which models are "good", which models are "bad", and which models are maybe "good" but also maybe "bad".

The reasons for this are many, but mainly because there is some disagreement about what constitutes "bad".  Further, the way in which folks are reporting their opinions does not lead to the possibility of any meaningful analysis.

So far, as best I can determine by evaluating all responses in this thread, all I can conclude is the following:

    1. There is a prevalent perception that some displays extant in the fenix 6 series (all models) of watches that some exhibit a "blue" display which has been categorized as "bad" while others exhibit a "black" display which has been deemed "good"

    2. Whichever way one perceives any particular watch, the core performance and functionality is not affected - both "good" and "bad" examples perform equally well

    3. It is not possible to draw any correlation between serial numbers and perceived display status.  Reported serial number info is often contradictory (one reports a given serial number range as "bad" while another reports the same serial number range as "good") or too vague to be of any use ("early model" as opposed to "later model" or "new")

    4. The only way for anyone to determine if a watch they wish to purchase will be "good" or "bad" as far as their perceived criterion is concerned is to view the watch in person - and even then, preferably compared directly to another known (to that individual) as "good" or "bad"

In light of these conclusions, what really is left to be said?

And as far as what my "...right to say that we are speaking about nothing" is concerned - hey, it's the internet; I have the right to post my comments just as much as anyone else.  Sorry if you somehow took offense to my post, but it is my opinion.

    Happy Holidays!

  • I don't have the serial number of the old one, but they were both fenix 6s pro, not saphire.

Amazon just restocked these before black friday, they were out of stock before so I reckon both are from the same batch.
