Open water tracking.

I swam open water today and yet again my marq failed terribly. I tried the regular open water app with glonas and without. I tried tethering to float. I tried a downloaded garmin swim app. I tried it all four times. It recorded 40y. Utterly hopeless.All for $1500 plus tax. Not happy. Planning on sending back.

I feel your pain, but there isn't new GPS firmware available so issue does not magically go away.

There is going to be a "potential" fix for this next week. Read DCRainmakers review of the Garmin MARQ just released yesterday.

"Garmin says as of last week they continue to make progress on openwater swim across all units, with another openwater swim focused GPS beta due in the next week or two. They say they’ve been sending out lots of employees into the waters around Olathe to constantly test and try and eradicate the issues I and others have had. And for my part, I’ve lucked out on recent MARQ swims with them actually nailing it (really well)."

This probably doesn't help you, but I put the beta 2.64 on my 945 and open water swim tracking appeared perfect from a recent tri swim. My tracks followed very closely to the guide ropes and floats I followed during the swim and distance seemed to be perfect, though the stroke count was odd because I forgot to hit the lap button and ended up running about 50 yards to my bike with in swim mode. Still GPS tracked perfectly.
