Yep!
Use the "Strength" activity and select "Free", which I believe tracks reps.

Just think about it for a second... how would an abs workout impact your VO2Max?
Strength workouts (abs or not) do add to training load and effect, but they will certainly not impact training status, which is purely an endurance measure.
The way to gauge strength training progress is in the weight room, not on a watch measuring HR (which is entirely useless for strength training)
Hello CJ, and Garmin family. I'm hoping someone from the community has a solution to my boggle.
I've made killer Ab, Upper, and Lower Body Workouts in Connect. There's no way the watch can count ab/lower body reps., which we're all aware of. So,
How can I tell the watch when I've completed a Set when it doesn't count Reps?
I'm giving myself 30-sec. breaks between sets for my ab workouts and am looking to program the watch in a way that not only monitors vitals, but counts me down between sets, while also taking note of completed reps.
As I get more "scientific" with my training regiment, I want the most accurate response and activity tracking available to me with my Garmin 945.
While I know some of my troubleshooting tactics are successful (outlined below), I'm looking to the community for input to determine the single most efficient way to program my Garmin 945 to measure ab and lower body reps/sets.
This is what I'm thinking:
Solution 1) If the 945 is programmed so when I hit the "lap button" it will start the 30-sec. countdown to the next set, knowing that I completed a set of 10 because it was written into the workout.
Solution 2) If the personalized workout is set with "Repeats," with a certain number of sets to reps. prescribed for a given exercise, and 30-second timed "Recovery" in-between sets, will this suffice.
Solution 3 and the most successful fix, thus far) In Garmin Connect I designed the Ab workouts with 'Repeats,' added a 30-sec. "Rest" between sets, which then allowed me to edit/record the number of reps I'm doing for each set.
Hopefully this information helps people and who knows, perhaps there's a better, more efficient way of making this happen and a community member will offer some advice.
THANKS ALL... Happy running, lifting, swimming, hiking, climbing, training, etc etc etc!
Question: how did you configure an ab workout? I didn't see such basic excercises like planck or russian twist on connect, not to mention combining them in one workout.
They are both there. Go to the URL in the header (or navigate in Connect via Workouts, and choose Strength in the dropdown box and then Create. Then you will find the exercises you mentioned, start typing where it says Choose an Exercise and a filter will be applied
Apologies, I gave a bad example (and using Polish interface doesn't help, which you CAN'T change BTW because Connect doesn't let you use anything else than your devide default language setting).
Planck is there but starfish crunch or various back excercises (like moving joint straight legs to the sides while lying on the stomach) are not. And if I decide to combine this with a stretch session, I can apparently only do stretches for my knee tendons STANDING UP (because there is no generic one or from a seated position, which is the only way I do it). Sure, you can write notes around it but then you have to access those notes on the watch during the trainig. it's just... cumbersome, non-customizable and so 2000's...

The fixed list of exercises is a problem and even if the exercise is in the list you might call it something else. Just don't use it. Use a training journal/notebook instead.
I never ever use the exercises. When I log a strength activity I always remove the one created exercise so all my strength activities got 0 exercises. I do the same with yoga. 0 poses.
I didn't realize you were missing workouts, I thought you didn't know how to
Yes, custom exercises is a long standing request for many years now - doesn't seem that Garmin ever will prioritize that.
