Open Water Swim - worked great (OWS)

I did an open water swim across a lake, 419m there and it recorded 418m return, my friend with a Fenix 5 who swam alongside me had zig zaggy tracking.

The 945 performed perfectly. This was using the beta GPS 2.42 with GPS and Glonass

    Well unfortunately I did 3 more swims, only 1 worked the other 2 were totally inaccurate. I swam for 10mins and it showed 115m. So disappointed 2 good tracks, 2 bad tracks so far. My 920XT was not perfect but at least worked

    I had an Ironman 3.8k swim last weekend and interestingly the watch did record the whole swim. I did a GPS soak 7min prior to the start - maybe this did the trick? Setting was GPS only

    Congrats on your Ironman. I will try this on the weekend and see how it goes.

    GPS soak? Can you explain that or point me in the right direction please. 

    I just got a 945 and the open water swimming data is way off from my 920xt.

    i switched GPS on 10minutes prior to start from Ironman Frankfurt and it tracked the whole swim. But this does not seem to work always. In fact it was the only time it worked. Had several more swims in July. None of my non stop training swims was tracked as expected. All lost GPS like 30m after start. Sometimes it works is when I do a stop in between a swim (what of course does not happen in a triathlon). I really can´t figure out what to do but wait for a new firmware.  As my OWS Season is nearly over this is really frustrating. any news here? Former Member
