Feedback Garmin Exchange on Mushy/sticky buttons

For those of you who got their watch exchanged by Garmin.
Please leave your feedback on the new device.

Help other forum users to make their choice between refund or exchange.

I went for a refund from Wiggle UK.

Happy sporting

This is an issue that is actively being investigated by the engineering teams responsible for the Forerunner 945.

If you are experiencing this issue, please reach out to your local product support team.

We will gladly work with you to get a replacement in your hands as soon as possible and may bring your device in for extra evaluation.

  • The buttons on the 945 are sketchy - not nearly as responsive as my 935.  They feel like they stick and sometimes I need to press it a second time to register.  This is not ideal for such a pricy watch.  I loved the 935 and was hoping to see an improvement in the 945 - guess that is not so. I really hope that Garmin exchanges it since this seems to be a common issue.

  • After querying the retailer for an status update, they switched from "we need to wait for Garmin" to "we have never received your item, it may got lost on transportation".

I bought online but returned directly to an store of them and got a confirmation that they received it.

Luckily enough I paid via PayPal, so I handed the case over to buyers protection.

I would have given the replacement unit a fair chance, since I had no option of returning it (date passed when I claimed warranty), but the current situation hopefully leaves me with a refund.

That said, I won't get another until Garmin fixed issues and the market price dropped significantly. Iff I ever get curious again.

Anybody got similar experiences with SportScheck in D/A/CH?

  • They will exchange it but the new one probably wont be any better until they fix the issue.

  • So I got a third one after another return. Third one still does not have clean clicky buttons - they all seem to have a bit of the double motion springiness in them before it clicks. Whcih is not very good on the start/stop for a sports watch. I dread the day I think i've pushed it at the start of a race and notice it did not start. I'm going to wait it out now to see if a statement gets made or if users confirm the issue is resolved.
