When I open Maps and select Around Me, I get the never-ending loading maps screen. Anyone else seeing this or know what's going on? Hard restart didn't help and maps are up to date.

No problem. I am thinking of starting a new thread noting all the things not working or missing/removed from the latest firmware. Maybe it will become a sticky. What do you think, would it be useful?
Mine is working fine whether I open the Navigate app or the Map app. Around Me shows the map with POI within a couple seconds of "Loading Map".
Mine also works when accessing through the maps app.

I’m in Maryland and it’s working fine for me too.
You need to use this function outdoors, when unit fixes satellites it displays map immediately with the sectored results.
Message is doubtful however, "loading maps" is not the unit does.
Yes, I am using the "Map" app outside and I am getting a GPS fix with a map displaying my correct location. The problem is once the map is displayed and I select the "around me" function, the watch then goes to a "loading map" screen and stays that way until I back out of the application. If working properly, it should display "loading map" for a couple of seconds and then display POI for my location.
Solved. Or at least a solution. I'm not sure if this is by design or a bug, but I went ahead and reported it to support. In "settings" for "map", if "orientation" is set to "north up", the watch will get stuck with loading map if you select "around me" in the "Map" application. For the "around me" feature to work, "orientation" must be set to "track up".
Update: confirmed by support and they're looking into a fix.
I just tested your theory and you are absolutely correct. In "north up" mine circles. In "track up" it populates. I hadn't noticed the problem because I always set my map to "track up" right away.
