945 Wireless headphones real world experiences

I thought it'd be useful to have one thread to capture info on headphones, looking at the 645 thread, this info below appears to be key knowledge! I'll aim to update this master table as people post info on what works/what doesn't.

UPDATED 16th August 2019

  • Trekz Air, quarter turn bike mount adapter, work fine once paired.

Pairing issue - if the 945 is syncing (as advised before new ride for heat acclimation etc.) then the headphones fail to pair. This is consistent. Once sync is done, headphones pair. The Trekz Air see the 945 as device 2, my phone already being connected (which could be contributory).

Also, I am a little annoyed that the volume level is not restored.

  • Happy Trekz Air user here... I thought the volume level is restored. Check this later.

I sometimes have strange beep tones (about every 10 seconds) in my Trekz Air headphones, typically when both devices (phone + 945) were connected and I go out of range of my phone. I then have to stop music and connect the headphones again.

  • Xiaomi Redmi Airdots - I can't confirm they're working. I can pair them but CANNOT connect. I tried dozens of times. They work flawlesly with my mobile phone, but not with Garmin.

  • Bose Soundsport Free Totally Wireless Buds, https://www.bose.com/en_us/products/headphones/earphones/soundsport-free-wireless.html#v=soundsport_free_wireless_midnight_blue

Left wrist,  very rare dropouts that happen only when standing still with arms straight at my side (i have very long arms)

These same buds only worked on my right wrist with my 645M. Was pleasantly surprised when I could return to left wrist wearing when I acquired the 945

Are you using the beta FW?  I got my buds in mid June and absolutely no issues. Since installing the beta FW, I get dropouts when turning my head to the right or when my left arm swings back a bit. Several times the left bud just turned off. When worn while cutting the grass (wrist constantly in front of my body) I have no problems.

  • Haven't tried on the Beta FW yet..  I've had maybe 2 blips over the last 2 months with turning my head to the right but it seems to be related to a specific location along my route where I have had problems with other wireless buds. I'll load the the Beta FW tonight and test this weekend.

  • Hi, could you please tell me if it is possible to listen to the music from the phone and hear lap announcements from the watches simultaneously (possibly automatically pausing the music)?

I have Trekz and I'm looking for a rationale to buy music-enabled garmin watches for the sake of voice information from watches.

  • Yeah. This starts when you enable second device pairing. As long as the second device stays paired, whenever it is out of reach I hear these beeps. The only solution is to manually unpair the second device. To manually disconnect in second device menu also helps.

Unfortunately reset didn't helped to get back to single device mode (:

  • What's your expeience using both phone and watches? can you listen to the music on the phone while hearing lap info from watches?

  • Never tried that. Typically hear Podcasts on my watch while running (no Smartphone) and when cycling I hear from Smartphone.
