Forerunner 945 LTE; does LTE work? New 09 17 2024; ver 17.30; Tech Support indicates poor LTE signal.

Forerunner 945 LTE; does LTE work? New 09 17 2024; ver 17.30; various attempts, various geographical locations; no success; constant restarts live tracking or Garmin. Tech Support indicates poor LTE signal.

Is anyone using this LTE feature?

Richard

  • watch is not communicating with the lte cell towers. The live track start is sent by the mobile app to Garmin server creating the invite and web link (which works).

  • test text from Firefox browser

I did find a Garmin posting (5yo) about a network debug test option (in beta aversion) that provided.

      1. LTE "on" and showing strength - 40-50%
      2. Active Subscription - Yes
      3. Inet PDN - No
      4. Priv PDN - No
      5. COAP - wait PDN or No
      6. Ping Fails
      7. Timeout Test - No

Would I like to find this.

  • Have you ever sent them a diagnostic report?

I would think they Garmin could ping my watch; but I don't know.

Maybe watch hardware or software, could my account access be locked (my subscription is up to date, but that is the billing department and not network operations. I do not get a lte connection error or failure or blinking icon, nothing.

I suspect my next Garmin call, they will suggest, factory reset. I presume (hope) that I need to save on Garmin connect, do reset and then upon pairing all data will be recovered from phone or Garmin cloud). Not sure. Not a big fan of factory reset.

Fyi, on initial setup I skipped Garman pay and Misic app. In Garmin Express I did not do the update maps either Any thoughts.

    Thanks again.

Forum is having difficulties with post; i found link that suggested deleting cookies for garmin forum and Cloudflare; and its working better. I had to send txt in smaller packages and i did not see any character limits.

  • Ramonet; 945lte, using lte connection without phone while running. The Start LiveTrack via phone sends invite, link, map and pulsing position properly. This communication I think is utilizing phone connection; phone is turned off and activity is started on watch. But LTE connection is never connected, after a few seconds activity stops needs to be resume and then either stops or watch presents triangle reboot. I have tried at multiple geographical locations (RI and MA) coverage map is total blue. Tried multiple hard resets. - no success. I read thee is a network debug test option that tests Lte on, signal % strength, active subscription PDN's, COAP, Ping status and timeout test. I would like Garmin to do or tell me how. Issue could be hardware, software, Lte component; or maybe my subscription account is locked or never provision properly. I do see the small eye shaped icon on watch face, but that is simply saying the start LiveTrack is initiated. There is no signal, no connection or? is not communicating with lte towers/server. Note my wife phone is receiving full lte Verizon service on her phone.

    What next?
