No YouTube Music on 945 LTE?

could have something to do with the memory an app has available. fr945lte only has 128kb, venu2 and all newer ones have 256kb

The 945lte is CIQ 3, like the Fenix6 and fr245.  These devices won't get CIQ4/5.  They don't have the needed HW are are end-of-life  

FR945 LTE was sync with FR955 until 17.xx version and is CIQ Level 4.2.x

But should be System 6

The 945lte is CIQ 3.4.2 per the latest CIQ device configurations

Very disappointing. 945 in tip top condition and promised music! YouTube music has all my running playlists with no chance to get in MP3s. 

TL;DR I think the sole reason that FR 945LTE (and 245, 645, 745, etc) don't have YouTube Music (and probably aren't getting it) is bc those devices are too old. All this stuff about CIQ API Level and System Level is irrelevant, since all of those devices support Spotify with no problems. But for the record, 945 LTE has CIQ 3.4.3 and is System 6. But that doesn't mean a whole lot tbh. 945 LTE had *similar* software to 955 - not the *same* software (and not the same CIQ version.) Just bc the version numbers are the same, doesn't mean the software is the same (although the version numbers could correlate to similar features, bug fixes, and UI changes, since some of codebase might be shared)

jim_m_58 is correct that 945 LTE has CIQ 3.4.x, and socursu is right that for some time, 945 LTE had similar software to 955 (not anymore though, as 955 continues to get major updates, and 945 LTE does not).

It just so happens that 945 LTE is System 6 (System 6 is CIQ 3.4 for CIQ 3 devices, and CIQ 4.2 for CIQ 4 devices), but it doesn't matter. "System 6" is just a bunch of shared features for CIQ 3 and 4 devices (and some CIQ 4-only features). It doesn't mean that all System 6 devices are the same (as matter of fact, they're not - CIQ 3 devices and CIQ 4 devices are very different.)

Going back to the similar software, I think the history is that some time after 955 was released, Garmin decided to backport some of the UI / features in 955 to 945 LTE, because 945 LTE had been released less than a year before 955 (it's a little unusual that way.)

But just bc 945 LTE had *similar* software (with similar UI and features) to 955, does not mean that 945 LTE had CIQ 4 as 955 did.

The devices page that socorsu screenshotted which says that 945 LTE has CIQ API level 4.2.0 is absolutely incorrect (I might file a bug report for this)

- 945 LTE started out as a CIQ 3.x device, and Garmin stated that no CIQ 3.x device would ever be upgraded to CIQ 4. One reason may be that CIQ 4 devices are required to have a GPU

- The current CIQ device file for 945 LTE states that the CIQ API level is 3.4.2 as jim_m_58 said

- The latest firmware for 945 LTE has CIQ 3.4.3

Having said all of that, I don't think there's any technical reason that 945 LTE, FR245, FR645 and similar older devices cannot get YouTube Music (there's no problem supporting Spotify on those devices, right?) I just think they won't get YouTube Music because Garmin / Google has decided not to support them bc they're too old. Anecdotal evidence:

- most of the old devices (CIQ 3.* and lower) are not supported for the new Connect IQ monetization program (the only old CIQ 3.* devices on the list are Fenix 6 / 6 Pro - everything else is CIQ 4 and higher)

- none of the old devices (CIQ 3.* and lower) are getting the new Face It updates (there's actually a technical reason for this tho)

- none of the old devices (CIQ 3.* and lower) are getting major feature updates anymore (afaik). The last major feature update for 945 LTE was 8 months ago, afaict. The latest firmware was released 10 days ago, but it looks like a bugfix release

Meanwhile, pretty much all of the CIQ 4 devices (such as 955) are still getting new features via beta firmware updates.

For anyone who's interested:

- CIQ System 4 means: for CIQ 3 devices, API level 3.2. For CIQ 4 devices, API level 4.0

- CIQ System 5 means: for CIQ 3 devices, API level 3.3. For CIQ 4 devices, API level 4.1

- CIQ System 6 means: for CIQ 3 devices, API level 3.4. For CIQ 4 devices, API level 4.2

- CIQ System 7 means: API level 5.* (only applies to devices which originally had CIQ API level 4.2. CIQ 3 devices are not included here)

(Again, no device which had CIQ 3 - or lower - can ever be upgraded to CIQ 4)
