During my swim, my Forerunner 945 suddenly turns off and not restart; watch power was 85%. I tried to press the upper left start button but it doesn't response, and not even charging now. What to do and what's wrong? Thanks.

After recording my swim for 30 mins, my Forerunner 945 suddenly turns off and not restart; watch power was 85%. I tried to press the upper left start button but it doesn't response, and not even charging now. What to do and what's wrong? Thanks.

  • Thanks, GerardW. I already tried this but it wasn't working.

  • sorry about that.did you try local customer support? I managed to smash my first watch screen to bits (fell with a bike). Not covered by warranty anymore but got a replacement for much less then the value in the shops.

  • Sorry for my late reply. Well, I got mine from Garmin online so I am not sure bringing it to any store would fix the issue. I have been busy dealing with my mother's situation in rehab so it just sits at my bookshelf now. I remember there was an article about fix this swimming issue but I can't find it anywhere now. I don't know what to do.

  • Hi!

    I just came across your post and wanted to say I’m experiencing the exact same issue with my Forerunner 955. It suddenly turned off while the battery was not low — it wasn’t exactly 70%, but somewhere around that level — and now it won’t turn on or charge, no matter what I try (holding the light button, charging with different adapters, etc.).

    I noticed there was no follow-up on your message, so I was wondering — were you eventually able to fix it? If yes, I’d really appreciate it if you could share what worked for you.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi 1068488.

    Sorry that you fall into the same situation of mine.

    But I hope yours is still within the warranty period.

    Mine was after the 1-year warranty expired. Therefore, the online customer service associate offers me:

    A1. Without warranty coverage, I have to pay a $140 to return the watch before sending a certified replacement out to me (free shipping);

    A2. with paying a $140 deposit, they send a certified replacement watch before I return my watch; once they receive my watch, the deposit would be refunded;

    There would be a 90-day warranty for the certified replacement watch. Within the warranty period, exchange is free. (But it doesn't seem to have better quality as I am wearing the 2nd replacement watch)

    or B. buy a equal or greater value watch with a 20% off discount (and of course, this discount cannot combine with any other promotion).

    Warranty makes a HUGE difference, or you would be ripped off.

    During the chat, the associate is able to receive a picture/video of your watch, if you send them.

    I hope my reply is helpful for making your decision. Let me know how it goes with your case.

    Good luck~
