Hey there,
Does anyone know which GPS-Chip is used in FR745? Is it a Sony or a MediaTek?
And if it is Sony: Is it the same as on FR245M?
Kind regards!

terrible that the newer watches are more expensive but less accurate.
I know this is an old thread, but reading a comment in a different thread brought me back here. Can anyone confirm or deny the Sony chipset in the 745 is their newer version? I recall reading somewhere (not the 5K Runner article) that it was an improved chipset. If I remember correctly wasn't the 745 spared from the New Year's Day GPS fiasco suggesting it had a different chipset? Anyway, I'm replying here because I just looked at the article and comments and I don't see any retraction from the author like you said he made. Did I miss it? So, I know the manufacturer is the same, but is the chipset different? This clip is from Sony's website and the wording "proprietary designs" (plural) suggest more than one type of chipset.
Solutions GPS/GNSS receiver/processor chips use high-frequency analog circuits and digital signal processing circuits with proprietary designs to deliver accurate positioning with the lowest power consumption level in the industry.
I can't confirm chipset, only from user experience, when you wait a few minutes after gps signal found, the accuracy on map is pretty good, you can see road side change, clear line. But as always, in difficult conditions, there is some inaccuracy.
