Audio prompt issues

I cannot get any audio prompts during activities on phone or earphones.
Worked well with 645 on same iPhone (X) and AirPods ..:(

Any one face(d) the same issue?

Thanks.

  • Obviously not from the phone, as my other watch is Ok on the same phone...

  • While working with Garmin support we may have stumbled over a process that works.  I honestly had given up and did a final reset to get back to factory settings to wipe out all the changes I made trying to fix the issue.  Here is what I can remember of the last process I did.

    - Removed the device from Garmin Connect web site...not the app on the phone
    - Let the removal sync down to Garmin Connect on the phone
    - Removed the device from bluetooth on the phone
    - Turned off bluetooth on the phone
    - Rebooted the phone
    - While the phone rebooted I did a reset with data removal on the watch (system-reset-delete data and reset settings)
    - Turned on bluetooth on the phone
    - Added device back in garmin connect.
    - After the watch was added and synced. I tapped on the device settings in Garmin connect.  It had you have completed x steps of 7.  I swiped on music and WiFi and said ignore or skip...don’t remember the exact wording.  But essentially don’t do this step.
    - Changed all my typical settings..I did all the settings I could from the phone app and only changed the ones not in the app from the phone on the watch itself...one second recording, run gps to gps+Galileo...by the way I have better tracks with the fr745 with those settings than any my previous Garmin watches.
    - on audio prompts I set...lap on, pace on with two min frequency and hr on with two min frequency.
    - let it sync to watch and verified watch settings.  I did not change the audio prompts settings on the watch.
    - The next run I was not expecting it but it started working.  I was like wait what was that...had to wait for the second and third time before I believed it was actually working.
This was with a Garmin FR745 and iPhone 12 Pro.  I also use a HRM-pro and Stryd with pace and distance set to always.  I set those up very last.  Actually about a day later just before my run.
Have no idea if the process has anything to do with it or not but it has never worked an my 745 and it now works. I used to have a FR645 and had fully removed it from Garmin connect before I did this reset process.

    Good Luck...
  • The audio prompt just started working without all these steps. I think the iPhone app has got an update and that fixes it.

  • Lucky; which software versions on watch and phone?

  • Wow, impressive, but you had to reset all settings and watch face on the watch?!?

  • I just updated Garmin Connect to 4.40 and change to the HR prompt to report every minute for testing, and it worked!

Won't have time for a run today. Will have you guys update once tested with actual run.

    Good luck!

  • App version 4.40.0.28

     Watch 4.20 (51726ca)

  • Looks like I made all those changes the day before the Garmin connect app was updated.  Then went on a run after the update got pushed out.  Hope the app updates does the trick for everyone.  It takes a bit to start from scratch like that.

  • Finally! It seems to be solved. I did nothing special, just tested following latest posts here, and i was able to get the audio prompts on phone and earphones connected to the phone.

I tested only walk, twice, but should normally be ok for cycling and running too.

It took a while (more than 4 months), but finally done. Thanks.

  • While waiting for the audio prompts to start working with my phone, I used the prompts with amazon music.  I’ve been doing the suggested workouts and while using the music app I get more prompts.  It lets me know if my pace is in range, too high or low, and the what the range is at the beginning of the step.  Using my phone, all I get is pace,  Is there a setting that I’m missing or is that feature for the music app only?
