Garmin Forerunner 745 GPS battery..

..really 16 hours only? Anybody have idea why? Would expect 10 hours more comparing to other models..

  • Hey, guys (and gals)! Check this out:

    https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=RMO7ny2RRm5w1Zth3P4ttA

Look at the very bottom of that website. There are tips suggesting that 24 hours of battery life can be achieved (and that without resorting to ultratrac).

Garmin fights bravely with the problems he has created himself.

My propose is turn off GPS and you even will be able to accomplished Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (if you don't get lost without gps)

  • Hey, cool down please. Obviously Garmin has changed a manner of stating battery life. They says 16, but if you want maximum, it is 24 with special settings. I have also 945 and with use of mentioned conditions:

    • Run Settings>GPS>GPS Only
    • System>Backlight>During Activity>Gesture>Off
    • Backlight>During Activity>Keys and Alerts>Off
    • Phone>Off

..than maximum is 36 hours, which is also specified for 945. But there is different view for 745. Who should expect this without Garmins clarification? If I as a customer see 24h instead of 16h it can completely change my mind. What I was missing in the spec. were conditions to reach mentioned lifetime.

Because another reason for such "unexplained" decreased battery life could be for example increased GPS precision what is also important parameter (at leat for me) and there can be also advantage for Garmin to advertise this.

For me this discussion makes real sense and thank tmk2 for clarification.
