Is My Forerunner Done For?

I just did a long run this morning using the device. My battery was about 95%. Upon completing the run, my battery was down to about 60% I then noticed that the watch screen had gone dark but I still saw the sensors on the bottom still blinking. I could't seem to bring back the home screen so I did a reset on the watch.

The watch successfully restarted but then was having trouble syncing to bluetooth to my phone. Then it went through several processes of restarting over and over again on its own. I had enough time at some point to just go in and do a complete factory default reset to the watch. I then went through the steps of re adding my watch to the Connect App. The phone had trouble recognizing the watch but it eventually got there and added the device. I then tried to do a sync in both the Connect+ and the Garmin app. The watch could not sync but the phone was showing it was connecting to the watch.

I tried a couple times to modify bluetooth settings on watch and phone without success. I then decided that maybe I should try recharging the watch. I pugged it in and walked away. When I came back to check, the watch was completely dead. I could not turn it on and upon trying to plug it back in and out there was no recognition of charging indicators.

So in short, is that it for the device or is there anything else I could do to try to get it back at this point?

  • A follow up to this: After leaving it be for the entire I day, I finally checked and noticed that the watch did bring up a drained battery indicator on the screen. I then plugged it in and suddenly it was back and charging back up. I started bringing back all my settings and apps that I had downloaded. It also appeared to be syncing and pairing with my phone successfully again.

However, the main issue is that there didn't seem to be any indication that the heart rate sensor was working anymore. There were no blinking lights on the back of the watch and no health metrics were registering because of this. There doesn't seem to be a way to disable or enable this function. I usually had the sensor track for every second because of a related sleep app but I changed the settings back to Smart to see if that would do anything.

The next morning I decided to just do a run and see if that would "wake up the sensor." I noticed on my run that the distance and pacing were wildly off based on my normal route routines. I don't know if  not having the HRV was having an effect or this was a related GPS glitch. I know that there are several GPS tracking options but haven't usually messed with that.

After completing the run, nothing seemed to change but it was still syncing. But then suddenly the watch began resetting on it's own over and over again, and not able to pair and maintain connection with the phone. Then it just wiped out all the downloaded apps and such that had been added to IQ Connect app. It continued to on and off reset every 5-10 minutes until it completely stopped and I got a dead screen again like the day before.

So I don't know now if this is related to the battery or a sensor or what. For additional context I have had this watch for a little over 4 years and I do have the current 11.03 firmware installed
