Rapid Battery Drain after 9.03 update

After the 9.03 update - my 55 seems to lose battery at about 10% per hour!

I have turned it off and back on.  I have not added or removed any apps.  My battery life has always been great - but after the update it is very bad.

I tried to reset to factory and turn off auto-update.  It seemed to be better for a while.  But I think it updated anyways and now it is draining the battery way too fast.

This is not acceptable.

Is there a way to go back to the earlier software version and not allow any more updates?

  • I’m experiencing this as well. Went out for a run today with 14% batter remaining which should be plenty for a run under an hour. It died 30 mins in.

  • Bought my watch in december, never got any problems with the other softwares, Now, I have 10.01 and my battery drains almost completely in a day. Before the update, I had battery for more than a week....

  • Yes - 10.01 is not much better than 9.03 on GPS usage.  It seems to be random for how much battery drain is used for the same GPS runs in successive days.  Sometimes for a 1 hour run it uses 8%, then the next day it uses almost 20%.  Not acceptable at all, and has made this watch unreliable for recording GPS events.

  • Any update for this? My garmin 55 is still draining so fast - even without GPS mode. It used to hold for 6-7 days in normal mode and now it barely holds for 3 days.. Is there anything I can do?

  • Nothing really helped.. and it seems like it draining battery during night very fast.. I contacted garmin but I didnt get any real help or solution

  • Mines is the same. Since the latest update to 10.01 my watch does exactly that. 100-90% in less than 30 mins, then 12 hours of varying GPS activity/non GPS activity down to 60-50% but after that any GPS activity drains within the hour. Previous to this update, I managed 24 hours ultras GOS tracked and active with less than 60% battery loss.

It's becoming such an issue, if it remains unresolved I will be looking at a different watch type, as I need mine to function for 24hr + activities.
