Problem with firmware update 27.09 seems to be solved with update 27.10 // FR265

Calorie count, step tracking, Body Battery, heart rate, and related metrics appear to be fixed with the latest 27.10 firmware update on my wife’s Forerunner 265.

It was about time — thank you for finally addressing this issue.

That said, Garmin should seriously review its internal crisis-communication process. When a firmware update causes major regressions affecting core health and activity metrics, waiting weeks without clear public communication is not acceptable.

Timely and transparent updates would go a long way toward maintaining user trust.

  • Ah, ok.  Unfortunately I do not know the answer as I have never done a full factory reset.  Burt to my knowledge whatever is in GC stays in GC and a watch reset would not result in anything being deleted.  I think the only way to have items deleted from GC is to manually go in there and delete them.

  • I'm pretty comfortable about the activities and profile being deleted on a factory reset, which is the whole reason for a factory reset, return the watch to the original factory settings (just not the firmware version). But if there was some version of a factory reset I didn't know about, I'm always open to new tricks.

  • The Connect app has a "back up and restore" function that allows you to automatically restore your specific watch settings after a factory reset instead of doing the manual way of copying out the folders to a computer. Just make sure that you actually have a backup ready first. I did it not too long ago and it worked out okay. You never lose your activities that are part of the larger Garmin Connect ecosystem, but I noticed that when you scroll through your history on the watch to activities that predate the reset there are no visual graphs anymore. You can still get all that data on the app and website. Also if you had any "streaks" for steps or stairs climbed that might get wiped out. Suffice it to say I did the reset and my watch still has all the 27.09 issues.
