Some context: I have had a ForeRunner 265s for a couple of years now. I am 32yr old male, and consider myself to be of average/decent fitness. I have peaks and valleys with training, but try to run a half marathon at least once a year (my fastest one being 2h06m). Also, my Garmin currently has my VO2 Max at 49, but once peaked at around 52.
In the past, I had some issues with the watch getting locked at a specific heart rate during runs. In some instances claiming very low unchanging heart rate during high intensity running. Due to this issue, I now use a heart rate monitor during my runs.
All that being said, I think my auto-detected max heart rate is very high, currently sitting at 208bpm, and my LTHR sitting at 188bpm. These numbers are actually lower than they once were. These numbers used to be 220 for Max HR and 191bpm for LTHR. I manually adjusted them down earlier this year as they were absurd and my zones were not representative of how I felt. Even now, these numbers keep slowly climbing, even though I took a big hiatus from training. I feel like there may be something wrong with auto-detection.
Any help or input on this would be appreciated. Anyone else experienced this and fixed it somehow? Thanks!
