PROBLEM WITH PACE SPEED

Five months ago I bought a Garmin Forerunner 265 together with the Garmin HRM-Pro Plus.

I have noticed that the pace is different with and without the HRM band. There is a lot of discussion about this and they recommend disabling the distance and step settings.

Whether I run only with the Forerunner watch or use the HRM band with this setting, my running speed is slower by about 1:30/km.

This is very unnerving and I don't understand what my real speed is.

If you have any advice it's much appreciated, thanks!

  • Check the settings on the HRM settings.  Make sure PACE and DISTANCE INDOOR ONLY.

    Mine works perfectly.

I would Unpair the HRM and start the setup from the beginning and make sure its Indoor only

  • @FOFFO, Just seeing this I'm wondering if an answer was reached? I don't have the HRM-Pro Plus but as far as I can tell it doesn't have GPS but uses an accelerometer to measure movement so it would still need other data, at least stride length to calculate (not measure) distance traveled. I don't see how that could be as accurate as GPS measured data. At least for me my stride length will very with pace and even the surface being run on. As has been already suggested I'd stick with the watch and disable distance measurement for outdoor use. I don't know the interface but it looks like SMR does.
