Black display after rebooting the watch

When the watch is switched off and on again, the Garmin triangle appears and then the display remains black. The Garmin Connect app sees the watch, but the display shows nothing. The only way to turn the display back on is to connect the watch with a USB cable to a computer. When the watch is connected to the computer, the charge percentage appears on the display, then you can access Watch Face by pressing the BACK button. The watch works as normal until the next switch off/on.

I have tried erasing all the data and resetting it to factory settings, but this has not helped. This problem occurred after the last update, which was probably an animation update. Maybe someone has had a similar problem and knows how to fix it?

  • I am having the same issue as well. Can't navigate to other watchfaces, no display after reboot until I connect the watch with USB to my PC. 

  • Same issue here, presumably from the update that went through a few days ago. I have also been having connection issues with notifications for a few weeks (texts will not come through), but both watch and phone say everything should be fine. 

  • The same has happened to me following a recent update. The light button fix has worked, but the watch is only 9 months old so this is disappointing. I have also not been able to get certain notifications for about 3 weeks, and both phone and watch say there should be no issue. Frustrating.

  • Bought the 265s 6 days ago, already happened 4 times, only fix is to put it to charge, but If i'm not at home I basically would be without a watch for the day, disgraceful really! Is there any fix already?, checked for new updates but nothing, I'm in Portugal but bought it in Germany so a replacement is gonna be a hustle, it's a 500€ watch so I'm not very pleased at this point
