My Forerunner 255 rebooted during a run

My music stopped and I saw the green triangle showing a reboot. I continued running and the watch allowed me to continue my run after reboot. The run details show a 2-minute period where no details were recorded. The map shows a straight line between the last data point before reboot and the first data point afterwards. I've been running with Garmins for 20 years and this is the first time this has happened to me.

I tried uploading the file (fit, tcx, gpx) but none of these file types were allowed.

Find the web site product page for your watch and try to find the chat / email option.

Or maybe someone from Garmin will see this and contact you, although they don't seem to be very active here.

An old Garmin of mine (I think it was a 645) started doing exactly this when I was out running, which was very annoying. I tried rebooting it and restoring it to factory settings. I then sent it to Garmin to try and fix it but, from memory, even a replacement one did it too. In the end, they sent me the next model up, a 745.

They couldn’t give me an answer on why it was happening so I guess just cheated by giving me a different model. It shows this issue is not specifically on 255s. Sorry I can’t be of more help.

Thanks. This 255 is a replacement Garmin sent me six months ago after the GPS went bad on my original. That one was actually replacing the first replacement they sent me on which the Bluetooth didn't work. I guess these things sometimes go bad and replacement is the best option.
