Forecast of a race duration during the race itself

Hi all, is it possible to have the "total time forecast" during a run?

Example, I set a half marathon as workout and would like to have a constant forecast of what will be my total time depending the actual pace.

I tryed on different fields but I did not find the right one. I found "forecasted time to the end" but not the "forecasted total time to cover the distance"

Thanks!

  • The Race Screen field in the ConnectIQ store will do this. It can be configured to show predicted finish time based on current pace or average pace.

You can learn more about it here (it's free): https://racescreen.org/

  • Thanks a lot! I have already installed on the watch! ;-)

  • Hi! I noticed the cadence shown is half of real cadence (shows 90 instead of 180) do you know where adjust this?

is it possible to modify the fields on the race screen ? for example showing distance left to run instead of pace?

    thanks!

  • I tried it out today and the cadence was alright for me. You may want to check the field settings (in the ConnectIQ app) to see if there is any setting that looks like "Display cadence x 2". The release notes show there were some bugs related to that, and there was an option in the settings at some point. I don't see it on my 255.

I don't think you can change the fields that much. I can't see anything in the documentation for distance remaining.

I also just found another way to do this on the watch that has what you want. If you go in the Run Options>Training>Set a Target and run a distance target, there will be a new screen at the end with Dist. Remaining, Est. Finish Time, and Average Pace. If you target a pace also, there is another screen with Time Ahead.

Other things I could think of would be to set up a workout for the race distance (which would get you distance remaining). If you had a GPX of the course and used navigation, I think distance remaining would work. The Est. Finish Time data field looks like it doesn't work with PacePro (I would think it should?).

  • Hi, there's no setting for cadence, I have FR255 as well. By the way, yesterday I tried out again and it was alright! Strange!

I can remember that when I read the half cadence on the watch, I kept the arm blocked (not oscillating), could it be that was corrupting the accelerometer ?!? Don't know, I read somewhere that cadence is evaluated by acceleration of body, not arm oscillation....

Thank you for your reply, I found "distance remaining" data field that was my additional question.

    Thanks!!

  • If you have a chest strap with running dynamics, the cadence is measured from there. If not, it the watch will measure cadence based on wrist movements.
