Step count, heart rate & calorie counter all stopped at midnight on 22.08.25 and no light on wrist sensor

My Forerunner 255 was working fine and then at exactly 23:59 on Friday 22.08 the heart rate, steps and calorie counter just stopped working according to my Garmin connect screen.

I cannot seem to get them working again - i have tried recording activities etc.

I don't know if there was some kind of update to the software on that date. I have checked on my watch and it says it is Bundle 24.12 software version.

I done a soft restart, checked for updates etc but no progress.

Can anyone suggest other steps pls?

Cheers

  • Not a suggestion, but i'm having the same issue with my Fenix 6x. I've tried turning on & off, soft reset & a full factory reset etc & it's still the same. I noticed on the day it stopped working, the connect app updated, so i'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I've seen a few places where something similar has happened in the past, it fixed itself after a couple of days. Has yours start working again?

    It lasted 20 minutes.

After some messing around, i've managed to get mine going again. I'm not sure if it's a temporary fix, but we'll see.

I downloaded Garmin Express for PC & connected my watch with the USB cable (not in MTP mode). After connecting & syncing it said i had an update. After disconnecting & trying to install the update a few times with no luck, I put my watch in the fridge for about 30mins, then connected it to the PC, synced it, disconnected it & put it back in the fridge while it updated & it's now working again.

Even if yours doesn't say it has an update, i'd still try syncing & disconnecting a few times to see if it gives you an option to install one. Mine didn't always say i had an update, but most of the time still asked if i wanted to install one after disconnecting from the PC.

I will still contact support as my watch is still in warranty & this doesn't seem like a normal thing to have to do!
