My 255 crashed during workout

Hi all! For the first time today my 255 showed the triangle on the screen during the workout, music was shut off as well.

It allowed to save the activty, though,

Anyone can explain what happened? Really the first time after about 10 months of use.

Thanks!

  • same issue, related to the last update 8/1/25 like all the other problems showing up

  • I’m experiencing the same problem with my Forerunner 255. The watch is running firmware 24.12.

    Symptoms observed:

First symptom: while the watch is idle, with no activity started, it restarts without reason.

Later the same day, I started a trail running activity and after 3 minutes the watch froze. Then it unlocked itself. I restarted the activity, it worked fine for more than an hour and a half, and then the watch froze again. Afterwards, it unlocked and restarted.

I uninstalled IQ apps, performed a factory reset on the watch. Then I charged it to 100%, discharged it to 1%, and charged it back to 100%.

Today, when I started using it, with the battery at 96%, the watch began to overheat. I removed it from my wrist. After a few minutes it cooled down, and the battery had dropped to 46%.

Later I started a running activity and the device restarted. I tried again and it restarted once more. A few minutes later I started another activity and was able to finish it successfully.

  • No further issues for me since the first one, hopefully issues are fixed?

  • my watch still having the problem.

  • after many factory resets and reinstalls I thought I had mine working. Even successfully recorded a run today. Then at one point today, screen went blank as it vibrated for 20-30 sec and shut off. Restarted on its own at some point. I plugged in to charge it, it was 67% to start and got it up to 97%  then used it on a walk, saved the activity, things seemed ok. Then it did same thing again but now it won't turn on at all, not even if it's plugged in to charge. I think the watch is dead. Will try finding factory support
