[23.20] Sleep automatically ends immediately after taking watch off

Ever since the latest update (23.20), whenever I wake up at night and take off my watch , sleep recording automatically ends as soon as I take it off.

On previous firmware, it was not this sensitive and I was able to take my watch off for a bit and wear it back on without disrupting sleep recording.

I hope this would be fixed in future updates, I never had issues with sleep recording, it was perfect, until the latest update.

  • Sounds more like they solved a bug in the old version if it could keep detecting sleep without being worn.

  • Hello,

The heart rate sensor is what tracks your sleep data. In order to have sleep data you need heart rate metrics. Once it is off your wrist, the sensor turns off as it does not detect skin. Sleep will stop tracking, this has always been the case in all of our watches that have a heart rate sensor on the back of them. This is the same idea as wearing your watch but you have battery savor turned on for sleep to save battery. It turns off your HR sensor leaving customers with no HR overnight and no sleep metrics. Let me know if you have any questions!

  • I understand it will not be able to track sleep if HR is not detected.

However it should atleast continue tracking sleep after I wear my watch back on. It would be great if I'm able to take my watch off atleast for a couple of minutes midnight without stopping sleep tracking all together and it not coming back on for the rest of the night.

I basically end up with half of my night tracked, just because I took it off for a bit.

For missing data, tracking-wise, sleep metrics on the graph could show up as empty during however long the watch was off my wrist.

  • Hello,

Do I have permission to look at your data for Sleep in your account? Also does it go to morning report immediately once you take it off and put it back on or just the normal watch face you have set?

And what part of the night is not tracked? The first half so 9pm to 12am or the second half (depending on when you take it off which you mentioned midnight so I assume the morning is not tracked)?

  • Yes sure, how do I provide you with permission? I could also tell you on which nights this exactly happened. I do sometimes go on to edit the wakeup time on the app to match my real wake up time, however ofcourse sleep data is still missing.

Yes it goes to morning report immediately as soon as I take it off.

I often take my watch off at around 4-5 AM, so the hours following are not tracked.
