Forerunner 255 keeps restarting

Hi,

I ran the Manchester Marathon on Sunday 27th April 2025, and was using my one month old Forerunner 255. I started a new activity and the device got a GPS fix as expected.

However when I crossed the start line and pressed "start activity" the device shut, down and restarted. This endless restart loop continued until KM 25 (approx 2 hours), and then stopped and appeared stable finally.

So for the first 2 hours I was unable to use my watch to keep track of my pace, which totally ruined the experience.

Is this a known issue?

Really not happy and considering a refund as I have lost confidence in this watch and would hate this to happen at my next marathon.

I am not aware of it, and do not see a lot of threads regarding this specific issue. I suggest contacting Garmin Support directly to report the issue. The phone number and contact options will vary depending on your region and time of day.

I contacted Garmin customer support and in summary they weren't interested in investigating this serious issue. It apparently isn't important as its only happened once. Doesn't matter that it was a serious issue that rendered my watch unusable
