New PIN keypad is awful

Hi,

Is it possible to change PIN keypad layout to the good old ring-based layout?

The new one with numeric keypad is not best for devices without touch screen. Even after few weeks I still don't know which button should I press to move digit selector in proper direction.

The ring based layout was easy to use and very intuitive, please at least give us option to choose prefferd way of entering PIN code.

  • I totally agree! As a seasoned Garmin user I would like to pay without using my reading glasses. I was waiting for readability improvement on the notifications widget. Instead things get worse. Why can't Garmin make these things configurable? Please make font sizes etc. configurable!

  • In deed... The ring based was way more interesting. Garmin: please bring it back or make it configurable, please.

  • I agree. The new Design is a Huge step Back.

  • same for me, i hate the new design

  • I guess it depends on whether you prefer touch or buttons for entering the pin. I got used to the old rotary design on my old Fenix 5+ (non-touch), but always found it cumbersome with my Forerunner using touch  (I prefer touch since it's faster). The numbers are just too small to touch reliably when they use just the perimeter of the screen. The new design utilises the whole screen and the touch area is bigger, I haven't had a single failed pin entry after the change (they were very common earlier).

With buttons, I think the numbers are selected in the same order as before, down button moves left to right, top to bottom (i.e., "down").

But of course I have nothing against making it configurable, as long as they don't force me back to the old awful rotary design... Wink

  • Let's hear from you again once you've turned 50. ;-)

  • Then you should have heard from me 5 years ago already. I'm 55...

  • except fr 255 has no touch to take advantage of new keypad...?

  • Yes, here 255 clearly suffers from the fact it shares the firmware with its newer siblings. On the other hand, if it didn't it wouldn't probably have received other new features either...

  • I am 53 years old, and I think the new keypad is okay to read, with big digits. The contrast could be better. It takes a bit getting used to, but I don't mind the new interface. I would however prefer if the default start point for the cursor was 5, not zero. I usually don't need to use the backspace button, so I would prefer to navigate to digits without stepping over it.
