Reboot during XC Skiing

Reporting this on behalf of my dad.

I bought him a Garmin Forerunner 255 recently, and he complained that it was showing a "Green Triangle" when we were doing XC skiing together. I realized afterwards that that's the boot screen for the forerunner, and it had crashed and rebooted.

Anything I can ask him to try to turn off to get it to stop crashing?

I unfortunately think it will be difficult to get any crash dump of the device, he's not very good with tech (though I could bring a laptop next time I see him I guess).

I have verified that he has the latest firmware version.

I am experiencing this problem with an instinct 2x this is what garmin support instructed me to do. It may be different for you since you have a forerunner but you should try

There is a potential work-around, which will also verify the issue. If you have After Sunset set for any of the following, disabling this will resolve the issue. Changing the Backlight During an Activity / During General Use

Hold UP/MENU to enter the Main Menu.

Select or scroll to Settings.

Select System.

Select {}Backlight{}{}.{}

Select During Activity / General Use

Keys - Select ON or OFF. Do not use After Sunset.

Alerts - Select ON or OFF. Do not use After Sunset

Gesture - Select ON or OFF. Do not use After Sunset

Changing the Backlight Outside of a Activity
