Auto pause active in XC ski activity even if the auto pause is disable :(

Hi,

 

I have an issue with the Firmware of my FR255 for several months, set in Nordic Ski. For several months, even if you set the auto pause = disable, the watch stops the record during the hardest slopes at slow speed, and start again the record only when you increase the speed over 5km/h, even if the watch displays the speed, the record is paused (and as I already said, with auto pause = no !)

 

It was working correctly until last February, I think.

I have several videos to show the problem. For example : https://youtube.com/shorts/RnqfMmJGiSg The watch is in Pause mode, even if the auto pause is disable and even if i'm moving with a speed display. Under 5km/h, the time is stopped, always :(

I don't have this problem if I select running or Mountain biking for example (also with auto pause = no).

I'm using the last FW (21.20)

    Thank you for sharing. Can you please toggle the Auto Pause setting to When Stopped, and then change it back to Off? If it does not fix it, may I have permission to reach you via email so we can further investigate?

    Hi, thank you for the tips, but i already tried it without success... I think they changed the settings into the hardware - and i think not so many athletes who used the XC Skiing profile :D

    I have the same problem! I was skiing this afternoon and the watch paused as I going slowly uphill.

    I have the opposite problem!  I skied for 4 hours yesterday and then the watch recorded my 28 mile drive home at 64 miles per hour...... For good sake let us set a speed that shuts down recording!

    Incredible. I met this problem for 1 year now.... and without any change during the last weeks, (i have always the same FW as i wrote this message 1 month ago), now it works fine. Amazing. Maybe a update of the Garmin Connect App on my phone (maybe Garmin connect didn't push correctly the profile on my watch?

    Yep, having the same problem. My forerunner 255 is running on software version 21.22. It is very annoying to have it constantly pause while I'm actively skiing. I've switched over to using the running activity while xc skiing.

    Thanks, everyone for their participation in this thread. If the Auto Pause setting is still not being honored for you, please answer the following: 

    1. May we have permission to view your Connect account?
    2. May we have permission to reach you via email, if necessary?
    3. As a workaround, does the Auto Pause setting work if you create a custom workout and label it as XC Ski?
