Does Forerunner work for MTB?

Is anyone using Forerunner series for MTB?

GPS tracking goes haywire on most MTB singletrack descents, even when it's not too bad it's still way off compared to other devices.

It worked well for running, general cycling and MTB style riding in flat terrain of the Netherlands.

Some comparison with Instinct 2s and cell phone tracks:

  • Any troubleshooting suggestions would be highly appreciated, it's currently set to Multiband and recording every second.

  • You can try this:

    1) connect and Sync everytime before your ride your fr255 to the app or the best at the PC via Garmin express.

    2) repeat the test with only One Watch on your wrist...maybe can help the gps signal

    3) last but also this can help sometimes: if you never switch off and on your Watch, try!

I Hope these suggestion could help you.

  • Thanks, I did quite a bit of troubleshooting with no avail.

Turning off and on, full reset, sync with both PC an app, tried different GPS modes, disabling altimeter.

Two watches was just one of the tests to have some baseline in same conditions from a comparable device.

  • Try wearing them on different wrists.
