Forerunner 255m Live Pace is and has been inexcusable

I really like the coach feature. However the live pace accuracy makes the interval training and even the easy runs difficult to follow. On an easy run I'll auto lap and my lap pace is 10-15 seconds faster than anything I saw on live pace. For intervals, the delay makes it near impossible to know if you're anywhere near in band especially for short intervals.

I did a coach plan on a 245m and felt like I never had this issue.

Garmin, please improve the live pace feature to get more out of the coaching plans.

  • Yes, it is sad but true - all fr X55 watches have a very averaged rolling pace. I think with a base of 20-30 seconds. Whereas the X45s had an average pace with a base of 10 seconds or less. But judging by the silence of all other users, no one cares about this at all. I have already contacted Garmin, they simply ignore or do not understand what the problem is.

  • My solution is to run my intervals on treadmills. This way I always have the exact pace I should have. My outdoor runs are more of the steady pace type. I don't think Garmin will ever fix this.

  • My solution is to use Stryd. Out/indoor, is the same - 3 sec. rolling pace is the best. Smile

  • I had have few sport watches, and i have experiencie between coros and garmin, i return 2 coros because of this delays in the pace training, coros pace was really bad, i returned it and i was very glad of the fast response of the forerunner 255 in the pace and in training, very much more accurate, i also used garmin coach feature without issues, i use the watch for short sprints no issues at all, it gives me the instant pace of 15sec sprints, so as my experience there is some issues than can be adressed but the lag of the forerunner 255 is very good compared to other devices, from my exp.

  • Live pace was much better before FW 14 or 15, can't remember exactly.
I got a DSW today - 5x15 second interwals at 4:20 km/min pace. It's was pretty much impossible to do with the data from the watch.
