Forerunner 255 with pristine crystal front and back and still showing pulseox stopped reporting heart rate with update to software version 20.32

Since pulseox is still displaying correctly I think that I didn't somehow turn off heart rate sensing. The weekly mileage accumulation includes the last day of the previous week (but is correct in garmin connect). All my previous heart rate data is correct in the garmin connect history. My software for both the watch (20.32) and express (7.23.0.0) report as being up to date.

 There is no damage to my watch and it looks new, so this is not due to some scratch damage. Are you working on a fix?

    Going to the settings for health and wellness on my watch and scrolling to wrist heart rate, it showed auto. After turning it off and back on to auto, it now works again. So I have a work-around, but I am more confident this is something that was  somehow switched off by the last software update, since it still showed "auto"

    in each firmware update if i feel something rare in the behavior of the watch, normally i make a reset to defaults, and its usually solves everything
