Any other fixes in 20.29?

I know Garmin often fails to fully describe changes in their firmware change logs. Does anybody know, from customer service interactions, whether other fixes are supposed to be in the 20.29 update that is now rolling out?  E.g. for the battery drain issues many people are talking about?

  • I thought this as well, except I don't have incident detection turned on at all and I had the battery drain issues. it would also fit with the "fix" being "go to start an activity (get to the GPS loading screen) and then back out".

  • I updated to 20.29 and I did a complete reset to the watch then disabled Garmin share option, reboot the watch and there is no battery drain so far, from 84-85% to 83% overnight, I haven't seen if there is something broken tho.

    For me this last update is working well. I experienced some battery drain on 20.26.

  • It certainly appears to be alot better in 20.29 so far compared to 20.26 since I upgraded last night. Only dropped a few % over 16 hours.

    The test will be next charge cycle, as will try that with out doing the "start an activity and back out" fix which improved things with previous versions.

  • Better batery improvement than 20.26, now is more optimized and consume much less in 20.29

  • Did you choose the "Delete Data and Reset Settings" option for the reset (say, so you can really start from the beginning (add credit cards, etc.)?
    What has happened since then? In sleep mode, day or night, what is the power consumption of the watch per hour? Or how long does it take to drop 1%?

     

  • 48 hours since charge and watch on 77%. (That is just wearing 24 hours a day, walking around etc, no specific activities)

    Thank goodness Garmin identified issue and fixed it as it was getting very annoying.

  • Yes, that one. You will start from the beginning, it said about recover from a backup but I skipped it (my watch is pretty new) so I didn't bother to configure everything.

    During sleep mode it's consuming around 2-3% at most and, during the day I can't measure it well enough, sometimes I like to tweak my watch face, check some data, sync or track my workouts but overall I believe it is around 5-8%.

    Last time I fully charged it was on Sat 09/21 and, today 09/24, it is at 61%. Estimate battery from watch says 8 days more.
