battery drain

Just bought a FR 255 music in replacement of my FR55.

FR55 battery was amazing. It used to last 6 - 7 days without charging.

Charged my FR255 on Friday night. Today is Monday 5 pm and the battery level is at 31%. Wifi turned off, Garmin share turned off, GPS is the usual (not all systems).

Anyone having the same problem?

My experience is that the Wifi can be enabled without affecting the battery drain noticeably. I do however have automatic sync disabled, so I sync my watch manually a couple of times daily, like after my workouts. I sync my music (Spotify) every couple of weeks.

Since 20.26 watch eats battery approximately twice as fast as it used to. Turning off Garmin Share did not change anything. Mine is the non music version (so no Wifi). I have rebooted it several times, but anything changed. I am thinking on downgrading it to firmware 19 because I was very happy with the watch performance back then.

The new version do not add any significant feature for me, just some minor UX tweaks, and this annoying downgrade in battery life.

Yes, my FR 255 (No Music) is also experiencing a big battery drain since the last firmware update (20.26). I tried a soft reset but the problem remains. Hope that Mr. Garmin will fix it ASAP....

For your information Fenix 8 / Enduro 3 / Fenix E just received 11.64 with Battery Drain and Naps fixes.

Garmin-Sierra, Garmin yes you can, all FRx55/x65 are waiting for your feedback for a fix too

Same problem here - FR255 updated to 20.26 the other day and my battery life has dropped savagely from long term average 0.353%/h to 0.692%/h, ie a long term average of 11.79days/charge to 6.02days/charge (all measured using MyBattery widget). Seriously unhappy how can a firmware update crash battery life to 50% of what it was before???

GARMIN please fix this asap. My watch life has gone from 11 days to 6 days (most features turned off), for no apparent gain in anything since update to 20.26

The changelog for 20.29 reads "Fixed incident detection remaining active after activity". I'd venture to guess that this is the same fix that the Fenix gets, just worded differently.

For me at least rebooting the watch after each workout seems to solve the issue. I got the idea from another thread about battery problems. Sometinng related to the OHR getting stuck in a high-power usage mode after leaving a workout.

Funny thing is that I always use an external HR chest strap when working out.

Hope this fix could work for somebody else.
