Hello,
it seems that Forerunner 255 is not detecting an activity automatically, such as walking. It counts steps, has all Sat Nav and tracking on, but no walks are detected automatically? Any advice, please?

It could be that the watch is detecting and recording your walks, but that you could not find where it is shown. I had a look around the web version of Google Connect, and I also failed to find it. I think it shows in the daily details view on the Connect app, but I could not verify it, since I have disabled Move IQ on my watch.
Thank you. I have been looking at the step count on the watch whils walking. at different pace. Did about 100 steps, indors, outdoors and it counted way less.
The watch is not really counting steps, but arm swings, since that is where the sensor is. If you only do a few arm swings, it will be filtered out. If you walk 100 steps with regular arm swing, it should count 100 steps. GPS is not used for steps, so it doesn't matter if it is indoors or outdoors.
Also, it won't be updating in "real time" on the watch. The steps count will usually lag behind and jump a number of steps at once. I've never tried to time it precisely but suspect it might be every 30 seconds or so...?
Watch faces are lagging, but the step glance is updating continuously.
