Is anyone else experiencing this? Since I upgraded my battery is dropping very fast.
Yes, same issue here. It usually occurs after the first activity I record after a full charge:
- I perform a full charge, the battery usage is normal after that
- I perform a run activity (I mainly run…
I notice greater battery consumption and a lack of precision with the rhythm.
Agreed. Also, it hasn't been a problem previously and then all of the sudden it is? I haven't changed my settings in well over a year and now the battery level just plummets, not only during the night…
I think I may have the same issue. My watch off this morning but was at about 40% last night. That should have been plenty. I have also noticed just recently that the HR rhythm is not as precise as it used to be. This morning after I charged it up to 100% it dropped to 87% in about 2 hours.
I confirm. I have the same problem. Pulse Ox is off.
I am investigating if the GPS settings are affecting it, somehow I have the feeling that if GPS is on AUTO then it drains more. I have switched to GPS only for now.
I first noticed the increased Battery drain after I changed my GPS setting from AUTO to ALL +Multi-Band but this may have been a coincidence. I've since changed back. I'd be interested to know how GPS only is working out for you because maybe the Multi Band feature is what is doing it and I was just lucky when it was on AUTO.
I still need to see how the battery behaves after a running workout with "GPS only". But so far, without any sports activity, I am at 0,38%/hour. 1,5 days since last charge and I am at 85%.
Thanks for the info. That's pretty reasonable. Mine was losing at least 5% per hour although I don't know exactly. It seems OK now after a long recharge and a restart. I'll leave mine on AUTO and I'm going for a run tomorrow morning Melbourne Australia time and see what that does to it. I've turned the pulse oximeter off as well.
@3158658 Further to my last post: I woke up at 0700 hrs on Saturday. Battery reading was 97% after being recharged the night before. I went for an 8km run and returned at 0820 hrs. I synced my watch and checked the battery level. It was now 91%, At 1320 hrs it was 87%. The next afternoon, Sunday at 1720 hrs it had dropped to 83%. In summary the one activity dropped the battery by 6% but the battery drop since then has only been an average of 0.23% per hour. This is quite good. I'm thinking it may have been swapping to All + Multi-Band that affected my Battery performance. The only other thing I have done differently was to charge my watch for a couple of hours more after it had reached 100% on Friday. I used to do this all the time with my previous watch which was a Forerunner 45. I'm just wondering if 100% really means 100% on the 255s music?
Hello Garmin! Any update from that ?
Since the last beta 20.23 I'm at 0,700 % per hour of battery decrease. It's too much!!!!!
I have the same battery drain problem. Yesterday I recharged my watch, and overnight it lost 23% of its battery. I'm also on the 19.18 version. But, since I got up this morning, it has only lost 3% battery. I have the impression that there's something going on at night that's making the battery drain more quickly.
Have you experienced the same problem?
You could try turning off the pulse oximeter, though it shouldn't cause that much drain. My battery drain problems seems to have been fixed by making sure my GPS setting used AUTO and not 'ALL + Multi Band'
Thanks for the tip, but if I deactivate the oximeter, will that affect the accuracy of the sleep measurement?
I was already using GPS in automatic mode.
