How do daily training suggestions determine volume

I moved from a Garmin FR 45 to  FR 255 and I'm very much interested in trying out the daily suggested training (running).

I'm a little confused about how it determines the appropriate training volume though. Usually I run 4 days a week. My watch is suggesting 6 days of traning, which is not so much an issue, but if I follow the recommendations blindly I'll be doubling my training volume from the previous week which is crazy.

Does the Garmin software not take into account what you've been doing and follow best practices for volume increase week over week?

  • Hello, just use common sense in your feelings and energy, if its too much the volume adapt it to your needs, in my case, my 255 is giving me always an accurate training suggestion, maybe its needs more time to adapts to you, fill the age, weight, height, etc and also you can make a plan of training for the watch to adapt to it, for me its sometimes gave me hard trainings and i dont follow them, i follow my feelings on how i feel that moment

  • How long have you been using the 255?

  • i feel the 255 needs some time to understand your fitness level and to give you whats is about your level

Continue doing so. It is not because there is a workout suggested (almost) every day that you should workout every day. In particular if you are older (let's say 50+) you should run every other day, or 4 workouts per week max and treat recovery days like rest days (mild cross training is OK).

Do not be tempted to push your "green zone" too high. Monitor your HRV scrupulously as decreasing HRV, all other things being equal) can be a sign of fatigue, overuse iin  general and in tendons. When you fell pain in tendons, it is too late: you are injured.

Also, young or not, don't hesitate to skip a DSW. The watch will adapt for the next suggestion.
