Sudden battery drain when there is less than 25% left

Recently (the last couple of weeks), I have noticed that suddenly the watch wants to enable the battery saver when it was at over 20% just a few minutes before. The percentage has then dropped rapidly to 1-3% left.

I'm on FW 19.18 and I reset the watch to default setting with no improvement.

Is there a way of calibrating the battery so you can trust the battery level or is this some sort of bug?

I've had my 255 for almost 2 years and am generally very satisfied with it, but this is annoying...

And in case any Garmin people read this: yes, you can have any data you want for troubleshooting.

Cheers from Norway,

Kjell

  • This has now happened 3 times.

I do not see any abnormal drain as long as the level is above 30% or so, and yesterday the level went from 28% to 2% in approx 2.5 hours!

  • And today it happened again. Had 24% when I started my 15-minute walk to work, and the watch died after around 10 mins of GPS.
Unless this is easily fixable in software, I'll just have to charge when the battery is lower than, say, 40 or 50%
