255 music mp3 & playlists

Hi to all.

Is there any clear way to upload mp3 files and playlists to the 255m?
So far i found only this source https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJbgwobUkrY&ab_channel=GaugingGadgets as the manual is lacking any guidance.

Still, using the old microsoft player windows media player in windows 11 is not possible.

Playlists formats such as m3u is not supported by 255m and so far i understood that using wpl format and windows media player is the only way.

Is there any easier and more practical alternatives or any clear guide?

@Garmin I feel that it should be easy and simple as copy paste through windows explorer.

Thanks,

Mike.

  • that's what i did.

It says it works with m3u files while it does not, neither with m3u8.

which program you use to create playlists and in what format?

  • Hi. Yes - you can add mp3s or playlists from Amazon Music or Spotify to the watch. In Garmin Express, under the music tab, you can choose between manual (drag and drop the songs) or itunes (choose the playlist from your itunes playlists). I've added playlists using both methods successfully with one caveat - for whatever reason, adding from AM seems to take 5 to 10 attempts as it just keeps adding about 10-30 songs and says not all content has been added. You then have to just keep selecting the playlist over and over until all songs have been added. Hope that helps.

  • I've been uploading from Itunes for the past year without too many issues via Garmin Express. It's not the most user friendly since the window is so small and every so often I have to unconnect to then reconnect because it doesn't always grab all the songs, but once on, it's good to go. Because of the glitches I am less prone to changing and updating playlists very often, too much of a pain, but I will add a song or two to a list which I then upload to update the playlist on the watch.

  • Yes - I guess using iTunes to manage your music and put them on to a watch is the ‘old school’ way of doing it but once the music is on the watch, then it’s good to go with no issues. Unfortunately that can’t be said for the ‘new school’ of doing things by using streaming platforms.
I’ve always found it such a faff a) installing the Amazon music app b) getting my playlists on to the watch as each one has to be done in at least 5 chunks as it just can’t add each playlist in one go c) every now and again, I get a message saying I can’t play offline music until I update my downloads. I then turn my WiFi and prepare for pain as it then tends to just randomly delete whole or part playlists while it updates them, which is incredibly annoying.
