Garmin Coaching Tune up race vs long run

Does anyone have experience with doing a tune up race with a Garmin Coaching Plan? I have a 10k race that I was hoping I could test out some of my paces and see how I'm doing fitness wise. But my coaching plan put in a 22k long run at an easy pace. Should I forgo trying to use the 10k as a fitness test and stick to just running it easy and adding an additional 12k after the race? If I just race the 10k will the coaching plan view that as "missing" a run/not completing it?

  • Sounds like you should balance having fun (doing the 10k race and finding different paces) vs following your plan (long run).

dont worry about if it will view something as “missing”… your legs won’t know the difference and that’s what counts.

id suggest do your 10k, but just make sure you’re not skipping too many of my lie long runs.
